PERIÓDICOS CONTEMPORÂNEOS EM MATO GROSSO

Abstract

This article aims to analyze contemporary literary magazines from Mato Grosso as literary archives, that is, as collections that record the complex relationships involved in the process of creating and disseminating literary production in the state and, consequently, as constitutive elements of its literary history. Our point of departure is the literary magazine Vôte!, a landmark in the consolidation of the so-called Coxipó Generation, a peripheral movement linked to the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso and established in opposition to the literary academicism represented by Dom Aquino Corrêa and José de Mesquita. We also examine other magazines, such as Fagulha and Estação Leitura, in which this generation published extensively, understanding them as sites of memory and spaces for the inscription of contemporary literary production. The concept of the archive adopted in this analysis is grounded in the notion developed by Jacques Derrida (2001) and in the concept of bem do arquivo proposed by Eneida Maria de Souza (2011). As additional theoretical support, we draw on Mahon (2020), Pedrosa et al. (2018), and Patiño (2009), among others.
