Abstract

The research practices in biomedical sciences are complex, involving epistemological, political, social and economic nuances. To understand the history of a field of biomedical research, we must not forget this complexity of factors that influence both the direction of research and the definition of public policies for the field of health sciences. In this work, we will analyze how such complexity can be noticed in the case of the implementation of biological standardization in Latin America, taking as a thread the work of Juliana Manzoni Cavalcanti.

Doutor e mestre em Filosofia da Ciência e Teoria do Conhecimento pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) com pós-doc em Saúde Pública pelo Instituto de Medicina Social da UERJ. Professor de Filosofia na Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). Colaborador no Mestrado Profissional em Filosofia na Universidade Federal do Tocantins (UFT). Colaborador na disciplina de Filosofia da Ciência na pós-graduação (mestrado e doutorado) em Biofísica do Instituto de Biofísica Carlos Chagas Filho da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (IBCCF-UFRJ). Coordenador do "Physikos - Estudos em História e Filosofia da Física e da Cosmologia" (FACH-UFMS).
